She is the daughter of Cronus and Rhea. She is the sister and wife of Zeus. Hera has 3 childern. Hephaestus, the smith-god, Ares, the god of war. Hebe, the god of youth. Hera was mainly worshiped as a goddess of marriage and birth. She would drive Dionysus foster- parents mad, and she tried to prevent the birth of Apollo and Artemis. Some times when Zues would get angery he would chain her to the mountain of Olympus. He would fasten anvils to her feet. When they would go some where, Zues would hid his illegitimate children, or he would change them into animals. Hear's main sanctuary was at Argos in the Pelopnnesus, where she was worshiped as the town goddess. Also in this town the Heraia, punlic festivites were celebrated. She was a powerful queen in her own right, long before her marraige to Zeus. she was also worshiped as the Roman goddess Juno, ad the month of June. With Hera's great beauty she is linked to her scared animals, cow and the peacock. The cow symbolizes the goddess Hera's nurturing watchfuleness. The peacock symbolizes her luxury, bueaty, and immorality.
