Atlas is the god of weightlefting and heavy burdens. Atlas's brothers Prometheus and Epimetheus. Atlas is the father of Hesperides, Hyades, and Pleiades. He is the scion of the Titans. He is the son of Iapetus and Clymene.
In the war of the Titans Atlas lead them to Olympus and threatened the Gods. His punishment for the war was to carry the weight of the Heavens on his shoulders forever.
Heracles had offered him a hand with the heaves. Heracles asked him to get the golden apples of Hesperides. Atlas went off to get the apples. When he came back he gave the golden apples to Heracles. When he asked Atlas to hold the heavens for a second while he scartched his back. When Atlas had the heavens back in his hands heracles ran off wif the apples.
Atlas had refused to give Perseus shelter he changed Atlas into stone with Medusa's head. Where he stood is now Mount Atlas.
